A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure (Blue), in pale a double handed flaming sword with point to chief, blade Argent (White), hilt Or (Gold), flames Gules (Red), on a chief arched of the third an eight column classic faade of the fourth. Attached below and to the sides of the shield is a threefold Gold scroll inscribed "LUMEN LIBERTAS ET SCIENTIA" in Azure letters.
The blue shield bearing a flaming sword and arched chief is suggested by the shoulder sleeve insignia of the U.S. Army, Europe, and identifies the assignment of the Center to that Command. The classic faade alludes to halls of learning; the eight columns signify the eight pillars of instruction conducted under the direction of the Center. Its position at the top of the shield refers to the high standards and superior quality performance provided by the staff and faculty, and the importance of training to the U.S. Army, Europe mission. The color red is symbolic of zeal and productive effort; gold in indicative of the light of learning and knowledge. The motto translates to "Light, Liberty, and Knowledge."
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the United States Army School, Europe on 7 May 1968. It was redesignated for the United States Army Europe Combat Support Training Center effective 25 June 1971.
